QSE closes week losing QAR 2.5bn

Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) ended the week on Thursday, 21 September, losing QAR 2.5 billion ($692.97 million).

Over the week, the main index fell 0.58% or 48.71 points to 8,360.77 points, from 8,409.48 points last week.

Market capitalisation dropped 0.53% to QAR 456.4 billion from QAR 458.9 billion.

The traded value totaled QAR 1.06 billion, as compared to QAR 1.25 billion the week before, declining 15.6%.

Executed transactions during the week slid 21.1% to 12,100 transactions from 15,400 transactions.

Trading volume rose 0.26% to 58.5 million shares, versus 58.3 million shares last week.

The banks sector reached the highest traded value with 39.7%, followed by the industrial sector with 27.7%, telecommunications with 13.4%, and real estate with 8.6%.

Meanwhile, the industrial sector achieved the highest trading volume with 30.6%, followed by banks with 29.2%, telecommunications with 22.7%, and real estate with 12.4%.

During the week, 23 stocks declined, led by Qatar Insurance by 7.1%, while 19 shares rose, topped by Investment Holding with 10.8%, and three stocks remained stable.

QNB’s stock was the leader in terms of traded value, with 15.7%, followed by Vodafone Qatar, and Investment Holding, with 9.9% each.

Aamal, Qatar Navigation, and Qatari Investors were delisted from FTSE Emerging Markets Index, while Gulf Warehousing was enlisted in the index during the week.
